The West Indies women's cricket team is set to arrive in Karachi today to engage in a thrilling series comprising three ODIs and a five-match T20I series against Pakistan, commencing from April 18.
All matches will be hosted at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. Pakistan's team is scheduled to assemble in Karachi on April 13 and commence practice sessions from April 14 to 17. Practice timings for the Windies team will be announced later.
In the lead-up to the series, the National Women’s Selection Committee, spearheaded by former Test cricketer Saleem Jaffer, has unveiled a 16-member squad for both ODI and T20 formats. Notably, five players have been called back to the white-ball squad.
The three ODIs will form part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, slated to take place between April 18 and 23, while the five T20Is are scheduled from April 26 to May 3.
For the ODI series, wicketkeeper-batter Sidra Nawaz, who last played for Pakistan women’s team in September 2023 against South Africa, has been reinstated.
In the T20I format, Ayesha Zafar, Gull Feroza, Rameen Shamim, and Tuba Hassan have been recalled. Ayesha, Gull Feroza, and Rameen's last appearances in the T20I format were against South Africa, Sri Lanka, and England, respectively. Tuba, who debuted in ODIs against Australia in 2023, last played in T20Is during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023.
Ayesha, Gull Feroza, and Rameen will participate in the National Women’s One-Day Tournament in Faisalabad from April 17. Subsequently, they will rejoin the national team squad ahead of the T20I series.
Following the ODI series, Sadaf Shamas, Sidra Nawaz, and Waheeda Akhtar will head to Faisalabad to partake in the domestic one-day tournament.
